So, that she wouldn't be noticed. Then, Colonel Race asks Mrs. Bowers some questions about when Miss Van Schuyler stole them. Then, they departed and Colonel Race talked to Hercule Poirot about what Mrs. Bowers has him, the pearls. Hercule Poirot was already starting to put clues in his mind when he saw them.

We also find out that Singor Richetti is the one that killed Mrs. Otterbourne and Louise Bourget. There must be someone else that killed Linnet Doyle.
In chapter 29 Hercule Poirot and Colonel Race figured out from their clues in the previous text that the only reasonable way for Linnet Doyle to be killed is for Jackie and Simon to team up and kill Linnet. When Jackie was shooting Simon she didn't really shoot him she only shot the gun a slight bit away from him. But it felt real to everyone else. Then Simon took red nail polish and dyed the handkerchief red so that it looked like blood. Jackie got taken up to her room, while Simon quickley ran up to Linnet's room and shot her in the ear and took red nail polish and wrote a J on the wall. Then, he threw the gun into the water and rushed down stairs where he was now again on the couch in pain. Jackie and Simon are still married, they just wanted to get Linnet's money and be with each other.
In chapter 30 Hercule Poirot goes to Jackie's cabin and just stood there until Simon spilled the whole story out that she and Simon killed Linnet for her money. They wanted to make a better life for each other so they needed to kill Linnet to get the money. Jackie said that when Simon wrote the "J" on the wall that that was his kind of cheesy trick to do. She said that she couldn't think when Mrs. Otterbourne was going in to tell Hercule Poirot and Colonel Race. She just went to her room and prayed that she and Simon wouldn't get killed. She also says that it would have been better if Simon did get killed. Instead of being in this ugly mess. Poirot admires Jackie and her thinking. Jackie might get out of this mess.
In chapter 31 Cornelia gets married to Dr. Besener. Then, Simon apologizes for spilling everything out and Jackie pulls out a pistol and shoots herself. Colonel Race and Simon Doyle are stunned.
